Piatt Park Dental Team

Dr. Alexandra Wenzel, D.D.S.
I grew up in rural Wisconsin am a graduate of the University of Wisconsin Madison where I earned a bachelor’s degree in Biology. I attended the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco and graduated with my Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. Since then, I have provided outstanding dental care in a number of private practices in Wisconsin and San Francisco, and served as faculty at the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry before settling into the Cincinnati area last year. I purchased the practice in November of 2019. I enjoy reading, drawing, traveling, and coffee.
I have the firm belief that dental care is best managed through the trust, integrity, and relationships that are built in small, private practice settings. I strive to have my patients smiling confidently, free from discomfort, and eating the foods they love for a lifetime. I am privileged to have the opportunity to provide excellent dental care for my patients and am looking forward to providing excellent dental care for you in the near future. I can’t wait to meet you and learn more about you and your dental goals at our next visit.

Brandy, Assistant
My name is Brandy. I was born and raised in Cincinnati. I have worked as a Dental Assistant in Downtown for close to twenty years. My Doc recently retired, allowing me the opportunity to join Dr. Wenzel’s team. Dr. Wenzel and Laura have made the transition into my new work home very pleasant. I enjoy building relationships with patients and ensuring that they are as comfortable as possible during their visit. When I’m not in the office, I enjoy making memories with my three children. The beach is my most favorite place on earth! I’m looking forward to meeting some awesome new patients! So schedule your appointment and let us help keep your smile bright.

Taylor, Front Office Coordinator
Hello! My name is Taylor. I am from Dayton, Ohio and moved to Cincinnati in August of 2012 to attend the University of Cincinnati for my undergraduate studies. I received my bachelor’s degree in Marketing with a minor in Fashion studies. Upon graduating from college, I went straight into retail management which I did for 5 years. I worked in fashion retail for over 10 years before transitioning into the world of Dental. In my spare time I enjoy reading, spending time with family and friends, and trying different restaurants in the Cincinnati area. I am beyond grateful for Dr. Wenzel and the rest of the Piatt Park Family who have been amazing since day one. Giving every patient an amazing experience is my number one priority and I take pride in that. I look forward to meeting you!
Q&A With Dr. Alexandra Wenzel
I was on my way to submit some resumes for local retail positions after graduating high school. I had an appointment that morning to get my teeth cleaned, and all it took was the right time and the right place to put the idea in my head. I asked my childhood dentist, Dr. Knickmeyer, if he needed any help.
I started my dental career as an assistant working part time with Dr. Knickmeyer while completing my undergraduate degree. Dr. Knickmeyer was a fantastic mentor and person. He was patient and loved to teach. What I saw and admired was that he was able to change lives in a significant and tangible way every day. He did good things for good people and was a leader in his community. He did all of this while being able to support and spend time with his family. His kindness not only changed my life, but Dr. Anna Francke as well, who recently graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. Exceptional people inspire and it’s what I strive to do as well.
I have had the fortune of meeting many more exceptional dentists in my life, both as mentors and as peers. I am a product of kindness and public education, believing strongly in the power of both.
I take pride in being a great listener and helping people feel relaxed and calm in the dental setting. Sometimes people have very personal reasons for not seeking care or putting off treatment.
Recently I had a client come in who didn’t want a crown on her tooth even though it was crucial for keeping the tooth in good condition for the long term, she just wanted it pulled. I tried to talk her into a middle ground treatment of doing a filling instead so that we could at least keep the tooth but have a chance to clean out the decay. She didn’t even want a filling. I asked her why and then I listened. To my surprise, it wasn’t the cost, it was the sound of the drill. We were able to come up with a solution for her to keep her tooth which was crucial for the support of her partial denture. In short, we were able to keep her chewing and eating the foods she loves.
During the appointment, she was able to remain calm and relaxed. She felt at ease and taken care of. We were able to provide her the best care for her teeth and make a meaningful difference in her life. It was a big win.
I once had a mentor ask me what is the most important thing that we give patients. I responded with “A great smile and functional bite?” and he said “No, the most important thing we give is our time.” I think this was a great example of that principle at work and we did more than just dentistry that day.
For me, dentistry is how I can combine building relationships with my technical and artistic skills in order to make a difference in people’s lives in a direct and tangible way. It allows me to connect with people and guide them down a path of seeing the value in their dental health and ultimately help them realize that value in themselves.
Since the purchase of the office in November of 2019, the office has been upgraded to support today’s dentistry by installing a new computer system, converting to digital x-rays that have minimal radiation compared to traditional x-rays, and implementing electronic charting for ease of organization and communication. However, my vision begins here. We are out to create a dental home for our clients. I want people to walk in the door and feel at ease and welcomed in the space. We are developing a culture of gratitude and sharing of our successes with the overall community. We are about providing the best care for every person we serve.
My goal is to lead and grow our amazing team and become the destination practice known for building relationships, incredible attention to detail, and excellent results. We strive to listen to our clients and work toward common goals by helping them see the value of their dental health and how that fits into taking care of their whole self.
